UAN (urea-ammonium nitrate, or urea-ammonia mixture) is a mixture of concentrated aqueous solutions of urea and ammonium nitrate, the mass fractions of which are 31-37 and 40-48%, respectively. There are three industrial forms of this fertilizer: UAN-28, UAN-30, and UAN-32 with a total nitrogen content of 28, 30, and 32%, respectively, but there may be lesser amount of nitrogen - 20-25 %.

UAN is a clear or light yellow liquid with a faint smell of ammonia, with a density of 1.26-1.33 g/cm3, and pH 7-8. The physical and chemical characteristics of this fertilizer allow it to be stored throughout the year.

The crystallization temperature of UAN-32 is 0 °C, while UAN-30 is -9°C, UAN-28 is - 17 °C. Therefore, in cold weather it is better to use UAN-28. However, the use of UAN on the surface is less effective than applying in the soil.

UAN is used both for the main fertilization and for top dressing. UAN solutions are not only an effective one-component nitrogen fertilizer, but also a highly effective component for producing complex preparations that include trace elements, pesticides, and growth regulators. This opens up wide opportunities for their application with intensive technologies for growing agricultural crops and reduces the cost of their application.

• 200-500 kg/ha of fertilizer is applied during the main fertilization while autumn ploughing, depending on the crop type and soil fertility.
• 200-400 kg/ha is applied before autumn ploughing levelling, depending on the crop type and soil fertility.
• 100-300 kg/ha of fertilizer is applied during top dressing of winter grains and rapeseed.
• 100-150 kg/ha of fertilizer is applied during top dressing of row crops (beets, sunflowers, corn).
