Development of winter crops is two weeks behind due to late spring — analysts

Over the past week, the agrometeorological conditions for the growth and development of winter crops have been mixed. Late spring and lack of heat led to the fact that the phase development of plants, both winter and spring crops, occurs two weeks later than the average long-term periods.

This is evidenced by the data of the analytical reference of agrometeorological conditions and state sowing of agricultural crops of the NAAS.

It is noted that winter crops at the end of April are in the phase of "going into the tube".

«The lowered temperature background in April and satisfactory moisture conditions contributed to the penetration of the root system of winter crops into deeper soil layers, which will somewhat increase their resistance to drought. The bushiness of plants increased, which led to a slightly higher density of stems than last year», — the NAAN commented.

According to the report, on the best sowing of winter wheat, the height of plants is 15-38 cm, the total the number of stems is 800-1350 pieces/sq.m., for satisfactory ones — 550-1100 pieces/sq.m. The state of winter grain crops is mostly good and satisfactory.

In addition, scientists from the Institute for Plant Protection of the NAAS carried out monitoring of the phytosanitary state of crops, which showed that in most areas, especially in fields with overdeveloped plants (varieties of intensive development) there is a lesion of winter wheat leaves with septoria — 1-15% of plants are sick on 5-30% of the area, 1-15% of plants are affected by helminthosporiosis on 8-30% of the area, brown leaf rust is 0.5-6% plants on 5-39% area.Winter barley — rhynchosporiosis affects 0.1-1% of plants on 1 and 15% of the area, winter rape — peronosporosis, alternariosis, phomosis, bacteriosis affects from 1 to 10% of plants on 5-30% of the area.

«Taking into account the weather conditions, especially the changes in air temperature, it is necessary to use fungicides against leaf diseases, which can be used already at a temperature of 5-8 °C heat, in particular: Corvizar M (0.4-0.8 l/ha) , Tilt Turbo 575 EC (0.8-1.0 l/ha) and other of the recommended preparations», — the message says.

In addition, based on the species composition of weeds during the spring inspection sowing of winter cereals and taking into account the phase of development of the culture and the temperature at which it can be applied, it is necessary to use one (or a mixture) of the recommended herbicides included in the “List of pesticides and agrochemicals permitted for use in Ukraine.

Based on research conducted by scientists of the Institute of Agriculture of the Carpathian Region of the NAAS, in the presence of overgrown Weeds will be efficiently treated with the herbicide Grodil Maxi 375 OD (0.09-0.11 l / ha). that in spring, winter crops usually suffer from low temperatures and their sudden changes, as well as from frosts. Temperature stress factors lead to a decrease in metabolic processes, cessation of assimilation of mineral nutrition elements, almost stop the growth and development of crops, which negatively affects the establishment of high yields, quality of marketable products and contributes to the manifestation of dangerous diseases.

We remind that the head of the department of products and services of microfertilizers of the UKRAVIT company Sergey Adamenko noted that in spring winter crops usually suffer from low temperatures and their sharp drops, as well as from frosts. Temperature stress factors lead to a decrease in metabolic processes, cessation of assimilation of mineral nutrition elements, almost stop the growth and development of crops, which negatively affects the establishment of high yields, quality of marketable products and contributes to the manifestation of dangerous diseases.
