Agrarians of Cherkasy region are actively sowing spring crops

The sowing campaign of spring crops for the 2022 harvest continues in the farms of Cherkasy region. This was announced on April 5 by the press service of the Department of Agricultural Development of Cherkasy Regional State Administration.

It is noted that before the reporting date, farmers sowed 1.7 thousand hectares of spring wheat, 3.4 thousand hectares of spring barley and 0.3 thousand hectares of peas. Sowing of sugar beet and oats has started.

According to preliminary data, the sown area of industrial crops is expected to increase by 4.8%, which will amount to 381.1 thousand hectares, including sunflower - 245 thousand hectares.

"According to estimates, the sown area for all categories of farms of spring cereals and legumes will be 476 thousand hectares, including corn for grain - about 400 thousand hectares, wheat - 6 thousand hectares, barley - 43 thousand hectares, legumes crops and millet - about 27 thousand hectares ", - it is specified in the message.

The department advises farmers to focus primarily on the domestic market and its needs, because it should be done for the food security of the country, and to ensure the possibility of selling the harvest.

"The domestic market is moderately interested in food wheat, buckwheat, oats, millet, rye, peas, barley, sunflower," the agency added.
