The price of urea has risen in Ukraine
According to the monitoring of the Infoindustry company, ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulfate prices remained the same as last month, but since last Monday, all urea importers have raised their prices, and prices for the Ukrainian product have automatically increased.
The average price for Cherkasy urea last week was UAH 21,700/t with delivery, even lower prices were mentioned for agricultural holdings, but prices in the ports increased to UAH 21,700-22,000/t. The main reason is the increase in the price of Azerbaijani and Turkmen goods. Farmers are beginning to understand that there is less urea on the market than usual and a deficit is already forming.
Ukraine receives bulk urea from these two sources through the port of Poti (Georgia), and packaged urea through the port of Trabzon (Turkey). The latter port receives urea by truck, which makes it more expensive. Events related to the elections in Georgia may cause problems with the transshipment of urea from Turkmenistan at the port of Poti, in fact, this will lead to an increase in the price of urea in the Black Sea.
Importers are already preparing for problems, and the deterioration of weather conditions on the Black Sea is also added, which makes it impossible to deliver small shipping lots. Delivering by barge in stormy weather is risky.
The situation worsened after it became known that Ukrainian producers of urea managed to sell out the product in advance, in fact until December.
Thus, prices for ammonium nitrate, KAS and ammonium sulfate remained relatively low for buyers.
