Diseases of winter crops are spreading in Ukraine
The current agro-climatic conditions in Ukraine create prerequisites for the development and spread of diseases, mostly in early thickened sowings of winter cereals. This is stated in the monitoring data of the State Production and Consumer Service, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reported, agronews.ua writes .
As specified, 5-31% of surveyed areas are affected by powdery mildew, 2-6% by septoriosis, max. 10-15% of plants in Zhytomyr and Mykolaiv regions, root rot – 1-4%, max. 8% of plants in Zhytomyr and Lviv, brown leaf rust - 1% of plants in Ternopil.
On winter barley crops in Zakarpattia, Zhiytomir, Lviv, and Mykolaiv regions, 2-7% of plants are affected by helminthsporiosis. On winter rye plants in the western regions, the development of root rot, powdery mildew, septoriosis, which affects 1-3%, continues. To preserve the winter hardiness of plants, the crops are treated with recommended fungicides.
It is also reported that favorable hydrothermal conditions caused the development and spread of winter rapeseed diseases. On 8-24% of surveyed areas, 0.5-8%, max. 10-16% of plants (Zhytomyr, Rivne regions) are affected by peronosporosis, fomosis, alternariosis, white spot. Up to 15% of plants are affected by black leg in Berdychiv district of Zhytomyr region.
