Lithuania started rail transportation of fuel for Ukraine bypassing Belarus
The cargo company LTG Cargo, which is part of the "Lithuanian Railways" group, has started rail transportation of oil products produced by the Orlen Lietuva enterprise for Ukraine bypassing Belarus, reports Interfax-Ukraine .
As noted, the company plans to transport these cargoes two or three times a week and by the end of the summer to bring their monthly volumes up to 30,000 tons.
"LTG Cargo transports petroleum products between the terminals of Močkava (Lithuania) and Trakiški (Poland). The further route lies through Poland to the Yagodyn checkpoint on the border with Ukraine, transportation is carried out by Polish carriers and "Ukrzaliznytsia", the message says.
It is also noted that in recent weeks, 12 trains with more than 12,000 tons of oil products have already left for Ukraine via this route.
"The cargo will be transferred from the narrow gauge to the wide gauge only once - on the territory of Ukraine, so the route can be efficient," said the head of LTG Cargo, Egle Shime.
In the future, LTG Cargo plans to expand the geography of transportation of oil products and carry out their transportation from the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda.
