The Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine predicts that this year the domestic harvest of cereals and legumes will reach a record high.
According to FAO analysts, global wheat production in 2021 will reach a new record level of 785 million tons, which is 1.4% more than in 2020 due to recovery in production in most of Europe and expectations record harvests in India.
Bumper corn harvests are also expected on the back of projected bumper harvests in Brazil and South Africa. And the global grain consumption in the 2020-2021 season is expected to reach 2,777 million tons, which is 2.4% higher than in the previous season.
Consumption of baked goods and barley is projected to rise in China, where the livestock sector is recovering following the end of the African swine fever outbreak.
According to FAO forecasts, the volume of trade in cereals in the world in the season 2020-2021 will increase to 466 million tons, which is 5.8% higher than in the previous season. It is also expected that the volume of international rice trade could grow by 6% at once compared to last year.
